FAQ

Can I ride on my own as a learner?

No. During you time as a learner rider (RE-L licence) you must be accompanied by a supervisor who holds a current RE-O licence and has held it for at least 12 months.

Do I need to display an L plate?

YES. When riding on the road as a learner rider you must clearly display an L plate at all times.

What type of motorbike can I ride?

Learner riders are restricted to only riding a LAMS motorcycle (Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme) when travelling on our roads.

Do I need to keep a riding logbook?

NO. Currently there are no criteria for minimum hours required when riding as a learner. However, this may change at any time. Always stay up to date with TMR rules.

How long before I can upgrade to RE-O?

You must hold a valid RE-L licence for a minimum of 91 days before you can be eligible to enrol in the next Q-Ride course and upgrade your licence.
